GOP Tabs Ferretti To Run For Vacant 59th Assembly District Seat
The Kings County Republican Party has endorsed the candidacy of Jeffrey Ferretti for the open Assembly seat in the 59 Assembly District. Kings County Chairman, Arnaldo A. Ferraro, announced the nomination at a recent meeting of the County Committee of the 59 Assembly District and members of the Executive Committee of the Brooklyn Republican Party.
“We are pleased to endorse Jeff Ferretti who has proven to be a loyal Republican and a hard working campaigner. He is the right candidate for this office and when elected he will represent the community in which he and his family have resided and maintained a small business for over twenty years. We look forward to a victorious celebration onApril 19. 2016,” said Ferraro.
The 59th Assembly District includes the areas of Canarsie, Flatlands, Bergen Beach, Gerritsen Beach, Georgetown, and Marine Park in Brooklyn, N.Y.
DYCD Hosts 11th Annual “Skate Day” In Prospect Park
The City’s Department of Youth And Community Development will host more than 500 elementary, middle school and high school participants from DYCD’s COMPASS afters chool programs at their 11th Annual “Skate Day” at the LeFrak Center at Lakeside in Prospect Park.
Since opening in 2013, the LeFrak Center has become a year-round community destination welcoming more than 200,000 visitors each year. The public can enjoy seasonal recreational activities, programming and special events, including ice skating, roller skating, boating, biking and free water play at the Park’s largest water feature, which was named New York Magazine’s 2015 “Best of New York.”
The Skate School offers classes for skating, hockey, curling and broomball. Lakeside’s Bluestone Café is open year-round and offers a seasonally changing menu of innovative comfort foods, crisp salads, hearty sandwiches, and healthy snacks alongside beverages.
The Skate Day is slated for between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 16.
Adams Leads Brooklyn Delegation On Mission To Israel
Brooklyn Borough President Eric L. Adams announced today that he will be leaving tomorrow for Israel to lead a five-day mission focused on developing transatlantic partnerships in public safety and economic development.
“The State of Israel will find no better friend than the borough of Brooklyn, and strengthening our partnership is vital to advancing that friendship in the name of mutual benefit for our communities,” said Adams. “As Brooklynites, we are not only proud to be home to the largest Jewish population outside of Israel, we are reflective of their religious, ethnic, and ideological diversity and a model for greater cultural harmony. Our interests in public safety and economic development are best enhanced when we work hand-in-hand with our allies, and I am excited about the work we will accomplish on this trip with our Israeli counterparts on these important issues.”
Besides Adams, the delegation includes retired NYPD Chief of Department Phillip Banks, III, NYPD Inspector and 90th Precinct Commanding Officer Mark DiPaolo, United Jewish Appeal (UJA)-Federation of New York Managing Director of Government and External Relations Jeff Leb, JCRC-NY Executive Vice President and CEO Michael S. Miller, retired NYPD Inspector and current National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE) President Timothy Pearson, NYPD Captain and 66th Precinct Commanding Officer Kenneth Quick, and NYPD Patrol Borough Brooklyn North Deputy Chief Jack Trabitz.
Members of Adams’ office who will also traveling with him include his special counsel Ama Dwimoh, special assistant Joel Eisdorfer, and director of intergovernmental affairs Abe Friedman.
