Schneiderman, Seddio Rally The Democratic Troops

Stressing Democratic Party unity and the importance of the upcoming 2016 Presidential election, New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and Kings County Democratic Party Chair Frank Seddio last night rallied the County’s Democratic County Committee to get out the vote in the upcoming presidential primary and in the November general election.

Both Schneiderman and Seddio are strongly backing Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders for the Democratic Party nod for president.

The Democratic County Committee membership are made up of 2 to 4 seats from each election district (or ED), which itself is made up of a small number of city blocks. When all the seats are filled, there are about 3000 members, although many of the seats are currently unfilled. The New Kings Democrats club has an excellent explanation about how the committee is made up and works.

“People say that democracy is one of the most difficult processes, but it’s also the best in the world.  Hopefully, all of you will be there on April 19th when we vote for candidates and delegates for president of the United States,” Seddio told the committee membership at the meeting held at Xaverian High School in Bay Ridge.

In a largely partisan speech Schneiderman said the federal government is falling apart and that people in the Republican-controlled Congress who believe that government should not do anything have taken over the government.

“As Democrats, we are the ones who watch out for ordinary people.  And we have to be true to that promise,” said  Schneiderman, adding that many members of the Republican party would rather do damage to the Democrats even if it meant that it would hurt their own party.

“We have to stop the Republicans, and we can stop them by helping out with the national election.  And we can stop them by building from the grassroots up and taking control of the state senate and showing what a model state New York is,” he said.

Closing out his speech, Schneiderman had a few choice words regarding Donald Trump.  He spoke about his current litigation regarding Trump University and how the school that Trump had created was a complete fraud and it swindled many people out of thousands of dollars.

The Attorney General made it clear that Trump had no intentions of actually helping these people and when it came time for them to graduate, he did not even show up.  Instead, he allowed them to pose for a picture of himself cut out of a cardboard box, said Schneiderman.
