Kings County Party Democratic Leader Frank Seddio motivated the crowd Thursday night at the Thomas Jefferson Democratic Club as preparations began for the presidential race.
“Everyone who wants to run for office must be nominated,” Seddio said. “Our job is to do what we do best – to be the club that gets the most petitions for Hilary Clinton.”
For the next two weeks, precinct captains and members of the Thomas Jefferson Democratic Club will go door to door to the homes of registered Democrats and petition them to sign their signatures in support of Hilary Clinton for president.
Ian Gaynor, Law Committee Chair of the Thomas Jefferson Club, explained the petition assignment, including how to organize signatures on the petition form and how to correct mistakes on petition forms. Signed petitions are due back on Thursday, January 21st.
Gaynor and Seddio also announced Stanly Scutt as the delegate nominee for the Democratic National Convention that will be held in Philadelphia this July. He is looking forward to representing the Thomas Jefferson Club in support of Clinton.
“Hilary Clinton has had many firsts,” said Stanley Scutt. “She was the first female senator of New York State, she was the First Lady, and now she has a chance at becoming the first woman president of the United States. We are doing all we can to make that happen.”
In addition to the presidential race, this year the Thomas Jefferson Club will be engaged in a number of other races including the special elections for Jaime Rivas-Williams for Assembly Member of the 59th district and general election for Roxanne J. Persaud, Senator of the 19th Senate District this fall. The club will be seeking as much help as possible to achieve each of these victories.
