Cohen’s Schmooze Fest At Junior’s
Just about everybody who’s anybody in Brooklyn politics showed up for former Democratic Party District Leader and longtime party operative Steve Cohen’s annual pre-election networking breakfast this morning at Junior’s, 386 Flatbush Avenue Extension.
Among those in attendance were a number of former and current federal, state and local elected officials, and more political operative and media insiders than office workers at a midtown bar on a Friday night.
Among the many that KCP Editor-in-Chief Stephen Witt chatted with was former Gov. David Patterson, Congress Members Hakeem Jeffries, Jerrold Nadler and Dan Donovan, City Councilman Mathieu Eugene, the mayor’s Brooklyn Borough Community Affairs Unit Director Tahirah A. Moore, Advance Group President Scott Levinson, PR maven George Arzt, Public Advocate Letitia James, Prime New York President Jerry Skurnik, former Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz, old pals Geoffrey David, Musa Moore and Wayne Williams and Brooklyn Nets Account Manager Shenay Rivers.
Besides the abundance of food, coffee and juice attendees were given departing gift bags of mini-cheesecakes.

Ortiz Organ Donation Bill Signed Into Law
Sunset Park Assembly Member and Assistant Assembly Speaker Felix W. Ortiz joined with the organ donation community to announce enactment of his bill to improve implementation of the 2012 Lauren’s Law.
The bill, which Governor Cuomo signed into law late last evening, will fulfill the original intent of the law named after Lauren Shields, a young woman whose life was saved by a heart transplant and who continues to share her story.
This law will ensure that applicants for driver licenses do not skip over the question of whether they would like to enroll in the Donate Life Registry. Previously, applications were processed even if an applicant left that section blank, resulting in less participation in the donor registry.
“New York’s chronic underperformance in organ and tissue donation cost lives every day. With this new law in place, we will begin to reverse this trend and bring more hope to the patients and families who need it most,” said Ortiz.
To all KCP Viewers & Readers,
Have a Happy Halloween. Dress up in something fun, or scary, or just go out as your lil’ old self, don’t forget to turn your clocks back an hour this Sunday!
