Southwest Brooklyn Assemblyman William Colton, City Councilman Mark Treyger and Democratic Assembly District leader Nancy Tong, today, will release photos they allege will reveal “shocking dangers to the environment and to the community from the construction site of the Southwest Brooklyn Garbage Station.”

The Neighborhood Watch volunteers that they had set up to monitor the controversial project took the photos.

The City Administration has disregarded this Waste Transfer Station’s numerous violations for far too long. They first overlooked and now disregard the verified existence of World War II bombs and shells at the bottom of Gravesend Bay. They first denied and now minimize the documented presence of highly toxic chemicals. Yet the construction company continues to rush the construction with a thoughtless disregard for permitting conditions that pose a real danger for the surrounding community, the lawmakers said in a joint statement.

Colton, Treyger and Tong will release the photos at a press conference at 10 a.m., today, at Colton’s district office, 155 Kings Highway between West 12 and West 13 Street.
