Hillary Clinton Puts Campiagn Headquarters In Brooklyn
Presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton inked a deal for two floors of office space at 1 Pierrepont Plaza in Brooklyn Heights for her campaign headquarters, numerous media outlets reported.
Downtown Brooklyn-based Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC) manages and owns the property. FCRC Executive Chairman, Bruce Ratner, is also a big contributor to the Democratic Party as well as the minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets basketball team.
With the lease signing in tow, the clock starts ticking for Clinton to make an official announcement that she is seeking the presidency office as Federal Election Commission rules state that a candidate has only 15 days between conducting campaign activities and filing the official 2016 paperwork.
DC 37 And City Ink Pact for Thousands of City Workers
District Council 37 leaders and city officials, last week, have agreed to a living wage for thousands of public service workers previously earning $10 per hour or less.
The memorandum of understanding that boosts wages to $11.50 per hour for up to 4,500 DC 37 members in three low-wage job titles comes a week after KCP reported that many of the city’s public school crossing regards were making less than $10 an hour.
The agreement, which became effective April 1, will increase the wages of approximately 2,500 job training participants, 350 school crossing guards and seasonal aides.
Levin Rescues Cat
Northern Brooklyn City Councilman Stephen Levin, last week, was credited with rescuing a stray pregnant that wandered onto the edge of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.
Levin, who represents Williamsburg, Greenpoint, DUMBO, Brooklyn Heights, Downtown Brooklyn, Boerum Hill, and Parts of Bedford-Stuyvesant – was scratched in the process of rescuing the feline animal, but managed to capture and take it to an animal shelter at 253 Wythe Ave. in Williamsburg.
Once there, a veterinarian discovered that the cat had been shot, and the bullet was still lodged in her right hip. Additionally the cat was pregnant, and the unborn kittens appeared to be safe.
The cat was also determined to have been abused as new and old wounds and scars were found, and its’ paw pads had been ripped off, and her toes were badly bruised, shelter officials said.
The shelter named the pregnant cat Loretta. She will be available for adoption once she is fully recovered and gives birth to her litter.
