T’was the season to give back!
City Councilmember Farah Louis (D-(D-Flatbush, East Flatbush, Midwood, Marine Park, Flatlands, Kensington) and Terrance “Aura” Rogers, a life-long resident of Glenwood Houses, 5816 Farragut Road, last week organized a huge superhero-themed Christmas toy giveaway on for both the Glenwood Houses and surrounding New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) buildings.
The two people joined forces with The Evo Agency, The Artistry Ent, K Goddess, Goddess Venus, Terrance Floyd Brother of George Floyd, Hip Hop Mike, Cortez from the famous Url battles, Hollitv, Lil AGZ, SPIDERCUZ, 8rooklyn8atman and DJ Skrilla to deliver toys to underprivileged kids that have been heavily impacted by COVID-19 in the area.
“The holidays are all about us coming together, working together and just remembering that the importance of the give back. So that’s why it’s important for us to partner with organizations and all of the influencers that came here today to support our community. The young people in particular. COVID has caused our community to lose so much so here’s an opportunity to give back and just to spread a little love and joy,” said Louis.
Rogers is a digital analyst at Roc Nation and also owns his own management firm, called AuraconnectionsLLC. He partnered with young social media influencers and music artists to dress up and join the annual community-centric initiative to support low-income families experiencing financial constraints and struggling to make ends meet.
Rogers’ family and friends happily knocked on doors throughout Glenwood Houses the various buildings and gave donated toys from the community center to children to spread holiday cheer.
“I just did it for my community man. No offense to the politicians, but I don’t see them here often,” said Rogers.
Rogers said he isn’t overly fond of press or speeches or attention but has been holding the toy giveaway and community events for many years and is excited about its success.
