In a borough that holds more Toys For Tots Drives than Santa has elves buildings children’s playthings in the North Pole, arguably the biggest and baddest is the annual 41st Assembly District Democratic Club’ annual Toys for Tots drive.
The driving force of the drive is former City Councilman and current Male Democratic District Leader Lew Fidler, with a good deal of help from his longtime partner in the collection of toys for needy kids being Assemblywoman Helene Weinstein.
Over the years, this Toys for Tots purportedly have collected 63,000 toys – enough to keep Little Orphan Annie on Broadway for at least another century.
But don’t take KIngs County Politics word on this, just head down to your favorite toy store and head on over from 7-9 p.m. this Tursday to the 41st AD Democrats Club, 2952 Avenue R, one block east of Nostrand Avenue on the corner of Haring Street.
Not only will you be performing a good Santa Claus Christmas deed, you are sure to run into a who’s whop of elected officials tp press the flesh with along with enjoying some eats and refreshments.
