GOP Florida Senator Marco Rubio may not be making frontrunner waves in the Iowa or New Hampshire Presidential Primaries, but he’s riding the political waves of Brooklyn like a Coney Island surfer at high tide.

That after Rubio’s New York State Chair of of his campaign, Bay Ridge Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis, announced today a long list of New York Republican and Conservative leaders supporting Senator Marco Rubio for President of the United States.

And in Brooklyn this includes Conservative Party Chair Jerry Kassar and Vice Chair Fran Vella-Marrone, who also runs the venerable Dyker Heights Civic Association, as well as former Kings County Republican Party Chair Craig Eaton and former Vice Chair Thomas McCarthy.

“We are excited to announce this list of New York leaders who have joined Marco’s growing team from around the nation and who believe Marco Rubio is the person to lead the United States into a New American Century. There is strong support across New York State for Marco Rubio’s vision and plan to achieve a job-creating economy, strong national security, and preserve the American Dream,” said Malliotakis.

“Marco’s consistent performance in the debates, along with his unique depth of knowledge about foreign affairs and national security issues, make him the clear choice to unite and represent the Republican Party and, ultimately, defeat Hillary Clinton next year,” she added.

Kassar said he personally has had a strong interest in Rubio and it grew stronger after hearing him speak at the Conservative Political Action Conference earlier this year in Washington.

“I have a lot of family in Florida so I’m very comfortable with him (Rubio),” said Kassar. He’s a solid conservative and he’s sensitive to conservative issues in urban areas and the northeast. He also has good experience in tax and national legislative issues and has top-notch knowledge in foreign policy and national security issues. As a party leader, I also take into consideration the ability to win in November, and I believe Marco Rubio is the strongest candidate to take on Hillary Clinton.

The New York State Presidential Primary for both Parties is scheduled for Tuesday, April 19, 2016.
