FJCC Heroes Fund Gives NYPD $10,000

The Flatbush Jewish Community Coalition (FJCC), along with donations from State Senator Simcha Felder and Assembly members Dov Hikind and Helene Weinstein, this week, presented the city’s police department with a donation of $10,000 to be used at police discretion to aide police members and their families in time of need.

Called the FJCC Heroes Fund, the money was given in memory of Police Officers Wenjian Liu, Rafael Ramos and Brian Moore – the three officers who were shot and killed in the line of duty within the past year.

“Today we commemorate the memory of those officers who paid the ultimate sacrifice for all the citizens of New York City, and honor those who serve all New Yorkers everyday. Words can hardly express our community’s gratitude,” said FJCC Chairman Josh Mehlman,Chairman in presenting the check to the Patrolmans Benevolent Association, Seargents Benevolant Association, and Lieutenats Benevolant Assiociation.

The donation came at an NYPD Appreciation Event, in which the FJCC, in partnership with Flatbush Hatzoloh, Flatbush Shomrim, and local elected officials welcomed the three new chiefs to the helm of Patrol Borough Brooklyn South.

The three new chiefs of Brooklyn Borough South are Assistant Chief Steven M. Powers, Commanding Officer; Deputy Chief Eric Rodriguez, Executive Officer; and Deputy Chief Charles Scholl, Executive Officer,

Appreciative plaques were also given to the precinct commanders Capt. William Taylor (60 Precinct), Deputy Inspector Carlos Valdez (61 Precinct), Captain Anthony Sanseverino (62 Precinct), Captain Thomas Burke (63 Precinct), Captain Kenneth Quick (66 Precinct), and Deputy Inspector Richard DiBlasio (70 Precinct).

The FJCC was founded over two years ago to represent, and unite the greater Flatbush Jewish community on civic, political and communal matters. Over 300 Rabbonim and representatives of Yeshivas, Schools, Shuls and Organizations, encompass the FJCC leadership committee.
