In 2001, Hiram became the first Latino elected in Queens, representing Corona, East Elmhurst, and Elmhurst in Council District 21. With an intimate knowledge of the 21st District, Hiram’s journey began at the age of 20 as a member of the NYPD, with one of his assignments being foot patrol on 108th street. Since then, he has steadfastly prioritized public safety, understanding its paramount importance to our community. Recently, Hiram has been a leader, and driving force in ridding our community of prostitutes and drug dealers to make Roosevelt Ave and the entire district a better and safer place for all
